Delayed muscle soreness

During or after muscle work, muscle pains may occur, which are associated with the accumulation of lactic acid. in that case, the osmotic pressure in the muscle cell increases and water penetrates from the intercellular space into the cells, causing swelling, compression of the nerve endings and pain, heartburn, feeling of "fullness" of the legs.
Immediately after exercise, or shortly after, those feelings and pain go away as the lactic acid is released through the bloodstream.
Muscle pain can also occur 24-48 hours after a heavy load and last up to 5 days. In that case, it is called DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), during which the above-mentioned complaints are more severe and there is a decrease in muscle strength. The main causes of this syndrome are: eccentric muscle contraction, inflammation of myofibrils, damage, hyperaccumulation of myofibrils in muscle cells, for example, calcium, which causes greater damage hypersensitivity. Some substances also come out of the cell and stimulate the nerve endings of the muscle.
In case of delayed muscle pain, active rest, light exercises, walking, doing 35/50% of the usual load, pull-ups are recommended. Sauna and massage also have a positive effect on water procedures. Do not forget about full sleep and food.
